On the 12th of March 2011 the show «Il etait une fois…Joe Dassin» was staged at Crocus City Hall in Moscow. The spectators heard more than two dozen of songs of the legendary artist Joe Dassin performed by the artists of the famous French musicals “Notre Dame de Paris” and “Romeo and Juliet” – Chiara Di Bari, David Ban, Cecilia Cara, Edouard Thiébaut – as well as Joe Dassin’s son – Julien Dassin . The setlist included Dassin’s hits such as «Champs-Élysées», «À toi», «Et si tu n’existais pas» and «L’été indien». The show finished with a spectacular ending: Joe Dassin and his son Julien Dassin managed to sing together with the help of the modern multimedia technologies.
«Il etait une fois…Joe Dassin» show brought back to life once popular but now undeservedly forgotten genre – “revue”. Revue is a theatrical performance that combines the features of operetta, ballet, variety show and melodeon. The word “revue” is translated as “review” from French. Revue «Il etait une fois…Joe Dassin» became a kind of a review of life and career of the singer, who came from America and became the personification of the French music scene and the pride of the French nation.
